Conductive Education

This is an integrated education and therapy system that aims to assist children with motor
disorders to function more independently.

Conductive Education aims to teach motor skills, balance, sensory and perceptual functions, language and various cognitive functions through active movement. By intensive and repetitive practice the children learn various skills necessary for progress in the above areas.

The program is run in small groups of 3-5 children for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Selected students participate in a group 1-2 times per week. The program is conducted by a physiotherapist and occupational therapist. Groups are organised to maximize each child’s learning

The aims of the Program include:

  • Facilitation of awareness of body position and postural alignment.
  • Facilitation of independence in feeding.
  • Development of communication skills.
  • Development of sensory awareness.
  • Development of visual attention.
  • Maintaining or increasing mobility.
