Safety around the drop off times

Dear Families, Carers and Yarrabah Stars,
I am writing to acknowledge and validate the many concerns and complaints I have received regarding traffic management around the school due to the Station Street Level Crossing Removal Project in Aspendale.
I fully understand and agree that traffic on Mill Street has become extremely congested during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times. The increased delays, safety risks, and frustration this is causing for families are very real, and I appreciate every family who has taken the time to share their feedback with me, with school council members or others at the school.
Yarrabah School council and the leadership team has actively raised these concerns with the relevant authorities. We have highlighted the significant impact the project is having on our school community in both formal sit-down face-to-face meetings during school council, phone calls and meetings directly with the project representatives.
Many families have now lodged their concerns with the school. If you would like to formally voice your feedback, we encourage you to contact the following:
  • The Local Member for Mordialloc
  • The Level Crossing Removal Project (LCRP) Mordialloc Office
  • Kingston City Council
Your voices are important, and the more feedback the authorities receive directly from families, the better they can understand the impact this is having on our local community.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work through this challenging period. We will continue to advocate on your behalf and keep you updated where possible.
Kind regards,
Matthew Harris
